How to make Mochi Ice Cream 春の雪見だいふくレシピ Recipe
I made mochi ice cream with spring colors!
Mochi (rice cake) ice cream is a very popular dessert in Japan. They are available at most supermarkets, but making them myself is so fun!
寒のもどりで部屋が寒いので、アイスクリームものが扱いやすいかな、と思って作ってみました。雪見じゃ冬ですね・・でも春色です。
あたりは粉だらけになり 買ったほうがいいでしょランキングで上位入賞間違いなしです!でも楽しいよ~(*´∀`*)
—Mochi
50g refined rice flour (Shiratama flour)
50g granulated sugar
140-150ml water
corn starch ( for scattering on a board in order to prevent the dough from sticking)
Divide the ingredients in half. Firstly, make half of them with 1 tsp of matcha powder (microwave for 2 minutes /500W), and make rest with red food color.
Be quick when you wrap the ice cream!

白玉粉 50g
グラニュー糖 50g
水 140~150g
コーンスターチ 打ち粉用たっぷり
材料を半分に分けて、片方には小さじ1の抹茶を加えて加熱します(電子レンジで2分(500W))。残りは赤の色素を加えて同様に加熱します。
アイスを包むのは手早く!!速攻で!!!溶けます!

Did u leave the Mochi cool before wrapping it? Might sound silly but my Mochi is too soft to work it tears easily when I try to wrap it with the ice cream

I have matcha powder but it's only in the drink mix version

It you were to use flour in this for the "powdering" it will taste of raw flour which isn't good eats at all. your best bet would be to try and find what she used. If you can't find it in your local supermarket you can always find it online. If you don't wish to order off the internet you might be able to get away with using a confectioner's sugar (aka powdered sugar and/or icing sugar) but I would defiantly advise against wheat flour for any application that will not be cooked further..
