I used to live on Sukhumvit 4, when I'm back on bangkok I usually stay on Langsuan. Last trip I had 4 nights and stayed in 3 hotels, one was in Ari. Lovely place – Bangkok Voyage Boutique. Walking distance from Ari BTS (and our favourite: Sushiro)

My first time in Bangkok was like that. I was there at the start of a 3 month backpacking trip with my partner (who had travelled extensively) and 12 year old son (who hadn't) Massive jetlag and heatstroke, crap hotel with blood on the walls, Nepalese fortune teller, stitched up by travel agent, money changer etc. We had a great trip but could have done with advice like yours.

A bicycle tour! I cycled round Britain with my boyfriend when I was 17 and I highly recommend it! We were extremely fit of course but we got so much more out of it than we might have done any other way.
