Buttery, citrusy, and delicately sweet, these festive cookies are perfect for coffee moments or gifting to loved ones. This recipe brings the taste of home straight from the heart.

Greek Easter Cookies (Koulourakia)
✨ Buttery, citrusy, and festive – a traditional Easter treat!

Ingredients:

1000g all-purpose flour

3 tsp ammonia

4 egg yolks + 1 whole egg

4 sticks (454g) unsalted butter, softened

2 cups confectioners’ sugar

Zest of 1 orange & 1 lemon

1 tsp vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

1 tbsp brandy or orange liquor (optional but traditional)

½ cup warm milk

¼ cup orange juice

Instructions:

Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.

Add egg yolks, egg, zest, vanilla, salt, brandy, ammonia disolved in warm milk, and orange juice. Mix well.

Gradually add the flour

Knead until soft dough forms – not sticky.

Let the dough rest covered at least 30 min.

Shape into twists or coils.

Brush with egg wash if desired.

Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes until golden.
