This was our second day at Universal Studios Japan and we had Express Passes to for 7 rides including DonKey Kong Mine Cart Madness in Donkey Kong Country, Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge and Yoshi’s Adventure in Super Nintendo World. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and Flight of the Hippogriff in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem and Jurassic Park.
We of course rode all the other rides in the park such as the two roller coasters the Flying Dinosaur and Hollywood Dream, as well as my ever favourite Jaws ride.
We had our lunch at Kinopio’s Cafe in Super Nintendo World.
We had a great Time at Universal Studios Japan.
Universal Studios Japan (ユニバーサル・スタジオ・ジャパン) is a theme park located in Osaka, Japan. Opened on March 31, 2001, it is one of six Universal Studios theme parks worldwide and was the first to open outside the United States. The park is similar in layout to Universal Studios Florida and contains selected attractions from both Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood, in addition to a small number of unique attractions.
Over 11 million guests visited the park in its opening year, making it the fastest theme park to reach the 10 million guest milestone at the time. In 2023, USJ hosted 16 million visitors, making it the third-most visited theme park in the world behind Magic Kingdom and Disneyland, and the most visited theme park in Asia.
Super Nintendo World is based on several Nintendo franchises, focusing on Super Mario and its Yoshi spin-off series. An expansion themed to the Donkey Kong Country spin-off series opened on December 11, 2024, and was divided into Super Mario Land and Donkey Kong Country.

Epic second day 🙌🏻 So glad you still got to do Donkey Kong after the initial hurdle – they were guarding the area like Fort Knox when we were there so I’m envious. Shocked that they still haven’t replaced Spider-Man as we were amongst the last to ride that over 18 months ago, and it’s left that whole area looking like a ghost town 😢 I think I mentioned we also sprang for the Express Pass 7s and I still have PTSD from the middle of the night purchasing on release when they were selling out in front of my eyes for the holiday season. Absolutely essential though – I sucked up the price and just built it into the whole cost of the trip. Thank goodness for Klook too.
