Eating Korea! Sungsimdang Fried Soboro Today, from one of the most famous bakery in Korea Sungsimdang in Daejeon, I bought popular fried soboro! Well, I didn’t actually go there to buy them I got them delivered I’m gonna eat a lot today Because I bought so much… It’s a challenge! I’ve ordered sweet red bean flavor and sweet potato flavor, total of six
(10000won, about 1000yen) Tada! Crispy donut!! So much is in there These three are
Sweet red bean flavor These three are sweet potato flavor Let me tell you what this soboro ppang is first There are crispy fried bits on top Like croquette It’s a little different than melon bread Much crispier This one is sweet red bean flavor soboro This one is sweet potato flavor soboro Both are equally crispy But first! Soda! Start with soda first and let’s dig in Good Let’s go for sweet red bean flavor first Looks good,,, OMG!! Look how crispy this is Even crispier than croquette The bottom is chewy like sticky rice donut It’s been a while since I had one, it’s so good! There’s sweet red bean inside So moist Um, so good!! It’s not just dry and crispy The bread at the bottom is so moist Soft and chewy Other regular soboro ppangs are nothing compare to this It’s fried unlike other soboro ppangs So delicious! It’s pretty big too The bread dough is so good Dough is important to make tasty bread I can’t get over how crispy the top is! This one has sweet potato filling inside Crispy as well Oh, there’re sesame seeds on top Wait, it’s like sweet potato manju (Japanese sweet potato dessert)! It tastes little bit like custard as well I would say this is more like sweet potato manju filling than actual sweet potato So good~ The smell of sesame seeds really brings out the sweet potato flavor I love this yellow sweet potato filling This bread is also soft and chewy, delicious The texture is very soft like custard cream It’s so full of filling Wow The amount of filling is amazing The sweet potato one has more filling So good! The combination of fried bread And soda is the best This is awesome Look, the fired bits~ It’s like a huge croquette Like a dessert croquette or something I just realized the red bean one has almond slices sprinkled on top Red bean filling is so moist I would say this is almost like red bean paste There are little chunks here and there Feels like whole red beans 4th one! I’d love to show this crispiness on camera over and over again! I prefer sweet potato Yep, sweet potato is better Personally It’s so soft that my fingers leave marks Here you can see where my thumb was. haha It’s so chewy But the top is crispy The sweet potato is so good It’s definitely more my type I think sweet potato one has more filling as well I had 4, right? 2 left I thought it was way too much but… It should’ve been twice as much to call it ‘challenge’ This is not even close to challenge It feels like I’m just having a tiny bit more than usual Now the 5th one Regular fried soboro Well, I’m kinda over it now though… I get pretty sick of it when I have to eat one thing only constantly Do you remember that video where I eat tons of hotdogs? In my defense, there were all kinds of flavors Sausage hotdogs, mozzarella hotdogs Or chocolate hotdogs Everything was a little different to one another, you know? There are 2 kinds here But the flavor itself is pretty similar to each other so I’m getting tired of them… They are delicious though. It’s the last one, right? 6th ppang There’re only six of them but I’m quite full Probably because they’re all fried And I don’t think you’ve noticed but There are so many crumbs on my skirt right now So messy But you can’t dig in if you’re concerned about that kind of stuff haha Good thing that I’ve saved sweet potato one for last
I definitely prefer sweet potato I’m so full It’s delicious They are more filling than I thought I thought 6 were too little for a challenge The amount of food people prepare for food fight challenge is massive, you know? But they’re fried in oil and they’re pretty big So I’m really full Maybe I should call it petit challenge I don’t think I’ll have dinner today I would go to this bakery everyday If it’s near my house. That’s how much I like this place There’s also ‘chive ppang’ which is filled with chives That’s pretty delicious There was a pop-up store of this bakery, Sungsimdang at a department store once but It was really for a short period of time I believe there’s none in Seoul If there is, I’m sorry for the misinformation But I’m pretty sure there isn’t It’s only in Daejeon I hope they open a branch in Seoul There’s chocolate soboro ppang And so much more interesting bread and desserts If you want to, go check them out It was delicious. I really enjoyed it I visited my parents’ house and I found Pants Pankurou (Japanese anime character) towel I used to love
