It’s been getting a little cooler these days. I’m making a relaxed-fit sweatshirt with a lightweight fabric. I’m using a pattern from ChakiSute. It’s designed by a professional designer, with lots of notches to guide you, so it sews up really neatly. They have many stylish patterns that are both easy to sew and comfortable to wear. After printing and cutting out the pattern, the first step is cutting the fabric. My daughter wanted leopard print, but since I couldn’t find it, I went with zebra instead. The hem rib fabric is a little short, but I’ll just manage to cut it out. For the sleeves, neck, and cuffs, I’ll use black. Cutting is done. I switched the thread to black and stitched everything together at once with a 2-needle, 4-thread serger. I’ll sew the neck, cuffs, and hem ribs with right sides together first. Now sewing the bodice and sleeves. Once the front and back bodices are joined, it looks like this. Then I’ll sew from the sides down under the sleeves. I had my daughter try it on through the neckline, but it was a little tight. So I’m switching to a more stretchy rib knit. Carefully matching the notches and securing with clips. The roomy sleeves are so cute. After attaching the hem rib, it’s done in no time. Finished! The oversized silhouette is very on-trend. I had her try it on. The cuffs are snug, so it’s easy to roll up the sleeves. When the hem is worn down, it looks like this. With the hem fully stretched down, it looks like this—perfect for cooler days ahead. 🕊️ Tomorrow, my daughter’s friend is coming over. So I’ll bake cookies full of black tea flavor. After chilling the dough in the fridge, I rolled it out and cut it into shapes. Time to bake. They smell amazing! They turned out delicious.
