I’m going to show you how easy it is to make homemade bagels. One and 1/2 cups of warm water, 1 tbsp of sugar, and one packet of active dry yeast. Give it a mix. Let it sit for 10 minutes. Okay, after 10 minutes, it should have this thin layer of foam on the top. In my mixing bowl, I have four cups of flour. I’m adding 1 tbsp of salt and the yeast mixture. This knead with the dough hook for about 10 minutes. Okay, it’s been 10 minutes. I like to knead by hand for just a couple minutes till I have a nice smooth dough ball. And you’re going to grab a large bowl, add a little bit of olive oil, and just spread it evenly. Add the dough to the bowl, cover, and let it rest for 1 hour. Okay, it’s been 1 hour. It should be doubled in size. You’re going to punch the air out and then dump it out. I’m just going to kind of reshape it into a ball. Then cut it into eight equal parts. All of these into balls. Then just poke a hole through the center. You’re going to cover and let rest for another 30 minutes. Then you’re going to boil them for 1 minute for 30 more seconds. Brush on an egg wash. This is where you’re going to add toppings if you want. 400 for 25 minutes.
