winter candle scents haul! | CandleScience Review
Welcome back, bisons. Today is going to be a
fun day because we are going to be going through my haul of winter and Christmas time scents for
candles. It feels like not that long ago that we filmed the video for the fall scent haul, but it
is now October and you need to start making these scents early because Christmas is going to come
up way faster than you know it and you need to be primed and ready with materials. Okay, this year
I have a couple of repeat scents as well as some new scents. So, we’re going to go through all of
those. And so, some of them will be a first sniff reveal and some will be some classics that I just
want to let you guys know about. But, we are going to start with pumpkin pie. Now, this is a part of
my fall collection, but I still find that it gets a lot of love up until like around Thanksgiving
time, and I’m already sold out of pumpkin pie, so I did have to get more. M like I said in the
last video, this is my favorite pumpkin scent that they have on Candle Science. It is very true to
its name. It’s very pumpkin pie. It always gives a very just like warm and full scent when you
burn it. Its fragrance notes on top are cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. The middle notes are clove and
pumpkin, and the base is pie crust and vanilla. Next up is another classic for maple candle
co candles and that is cranberry woods. The cranberry is very prominent. It’s very upfront and
in your face, but it is almost like a clean kind of scent. Like you kind of have wisps of pine
at the end of it, but you do get punched with cranberry right from the start. I find that people
who really like tree scents already are pretty big fans of this one. I personally like it as a late
December, early January kind of candle. That’s when I like to burn it. Its top notes are red
currant, cinnamon, and cranberry. The middle notes are black currant, green leaves, and the base is
vanilla, fur, and pine. I do really feel like that pine base is what gives it such a fresh scent.
Next up is my all-time favorite December candle. Like, this is the December candle. It reminds me
of Tis the Season from Bath & Body Works if anyone is familiar with that. That is Christmas Hearth.
This is another like cinnamony orange kind of scent to it that still has like some pine and some
spice. If you couldn’t tell from my fall video, I am a huge fan of cinnamon, which I realized is
kind of a problem because my whole f like fall lineup was very cinnamon focused and not everyone
is a cinnamon fan. And so I really need to branch out and find some more fall scents that don’t rely
so hard on a cinnamon note. But unfortunately, Christmas hearth does fall into that same
category. So that’s probably why I love it so much now that I’m sniffing it. And now that I’ve made
orange pomodor, which was from my previous haul, they smell a little bit similar, but I feel like
orange spice would be a good November candle, and then Christmas hearth would be the perfect
December candle. Next up, we have Mountain Pine, which this scent is completely sold out on Candle
Science. I wanted to get a 4 oz bottle and all I could get was this 1 oz bottle. Pine Mountain
Pine is definitely the tree scent that goes the fastest out of all of the tree scents I have.
A lot of people want it for if they have like a fake Christmas tree, they want the mountain pine
to still give like the illusion of a fresh tree. And this one definitely does the job. But wow, can
I not get it? Like thankfully I I got the 1 oz, but I’ve already made 1 oz like a couple weeks
ago. Like I made three candles and they’re all completely gone. And this will be another three
candles, but I feel like I can’t keep up with the the pine demand and neither can candle science.
But the notes on this on top are eucalyptus and citrus. The middle is pine and campfor. Camp for
I don’t know what that is. The base is balsam, juniper, cedar, and pachuli. So, I I think this
honestly I think this is my second favorite of the tree scents. Yeah, I would say it’s my second
favorite, but it’s definitely a fan favorite. Next up, we have iced ginger snap. I was a little
bit nervous before I This is a This is a winter classic for my candle company. I was nervous the
first time I bought it because I wasn’t really sure what the profile would be, but it is very
on the nails. Like, it’s exactly I ginger snap. There’s no playing with that. I find that this
one really does well for people who like to bake obviously, but if you have any bakers in your life
that needs a candle, do the ice ginger snap. This fragrance is described as a spicy gourmand, which
I definitely agree. This one is also very out of stock right now besides 1 oz in 5 lb jugs. So, I
guess if you’re interested, act now cuz things are going fast. The top notes are ginger, brown sugar.
The middle is butter, molasses, and vanilla. And the base is cinnamon clove and milk. I’ve never
actually gotten to burn iced ginger snap yet. It’s always been sold out faster than I’ve gotten
the opportunity to burn it. So, if any of you have burned that candle, if you could please let me
know what you think, I would love to know. Next up, we have another tree scent. This is personally
my favorite of all the tree scents, and that is blue spruce. This is a woody and green fragrance.
To me, I just feel like this is a little more it’s almost more tree scented than the pine is and
almost smells a little bit cleaner than the I guess it’s more like a laundry kind of clean. And
the mountain pine is more of a like spray bottle type of clean, if that makes any sense. I really
like the blue balsom over the mountain pine, but I also really like to mix the blue spruce.
Was I saying blue balsom? Blue spruce. I really like to mix the blue spruce with like lavender or
other essential oil scents to kind of give it a more relaxing vibe. The top notes are eucalyptus
and mint. Middle is spruce, moss, and evergreen. The base is cedar and amber. Next up is another
maple candle co. Classic, and that is woodland snow. This fragrance is woody, marine, and ozonic.
Like the ozone, but ick. This one I actually don’t like, but it didn’t do poorly when I made it last
winter because last winter was the first time I smelled it and I was like, “Okay, sure.” I didn’t
love it. But there was people out there who did enjoy it. So, I used to only make sense that I
purely enjoyed so that if no one bought them, I would just burn them. But I’m trying to expand
a little bit and actually make sense that other people enjoy it and I don’t have to enjoy it.
Yeah. The the reason I’m not a fan of this one is just because it seems a little bit boring to me.
Like it definitely has that like foresty element, but there’s nothing the things that it adds to the
foresty element just seem boring to my mind. So that’s why I don’t like the scent. The top notes
are mint, ozone, and camp for again. Whatever camp for is middle is eucalyptus, peppermint, cyprus,
and sage. The base is puli, juniper, cedar, spice, and incense. It’s not bad. Like I truly I
would burn a candle that smelled like that, but I wouldn’t purchase a candle in a store that smelled
like that, but other people did. So I guess it’s just me who thinks that. Okay, next up is a new
scent to the winter line, and that is Golden Moon Milk. I think I’m going to just name this Turmeric
Latte, cuz that’s kind of the vibes it’s giving me, and I think people will resonate more with
that name versus Golden Moon Milk. So I wasn’t quite sure what they meant which it’s inspired by
the traditional Indian ayurveetic beverage called the duth which is Hindi for tumeric milk. So I
think I’m just going to name it tumeric tumeric milk. Sorry for my butchering of the name of the
actual beverage in Hindi. I I’m not sure how to say that. First sniff test. Wow. It’s not I really
thought the turmeric was going to kind of hit a bit I guess but there wasn’t really a prominent
turmeric note. I feel like lavender and milk and vanilla are holding strongest upon just sniffing
the oil. I I think it cleared my sinuses. I don’t know. My nose like feels kind of weird, but like
in a good way. I don’t know. I I’m getting kind of mixed impressions from the first sniff, but I’m
kind of excited to mix it and see what its cold throw is like and what it’s hot throw is like. I
think this one could really be interesting. Its top notes are bergamont, lemon, and turmeric. I
feel like the bergamont’s kind of heavy. Middle is milk, lavender, and cardamom. I feel like the
lavender is kind of heavy. The base is vanilla, tonka bean, and musk. I’m kind of surprised by the
lavender note because I don’t know if lavender is an ingredient in the drink itself, but it’s I
feel like it’s kind of taking over the scent a little bit. But yeah, so this was more fresh than
gourmand from just sniffing the oil. But we’ll see how how it makes. Next up is a scent I bought
last winter, but didn’t get around to making it until it was beyond the winter season. So, I’m
going to make it this year, but it is discontinued on Candle Science, but I’m going to still talk
about it because sometimes Candle Science does bring back their discontinued scents. And that is
Peppermint Mocha. This is another gourmand. And I bought this one because my aunt requested pretty
much like like coffee coffee type drinks as wax melts. So, I thought this one might be fun for
the winter time. Yeah. I feel like the smell is exactly like what a peppermint mocha tastes like.
Like it’s very on the nose. The peppermint doesn’t feel too strong, but you definitely get hit with
the peppermint first and then you end with the the chocolatey note. No kind of coffee scent at
all. Just chocolate and peppermint. But it smells good. The top notes are coconut milk, middle is
peppermint, and base is chocolate and vanilla. Well, I guess if you wanted to make it a little
more coffee centric, you could mix the peppermint mocha with coffee shop. Coffee shop is a candle
co classic. I make that all year round. It is a very creamy coffee scent and a more atmospheric
coffee scent. I definitely could see those two mixed together to make a more coffee based
peppermint mocha. Next up is a new one to the winter lineup and that is creme brulee. This
is another gourmand. I used to not be a gourmand girly at all in the scent sphere and it’s really
kind of grown on me lately. I’ve started to really mess with gourmands. Creme brulee is one of my
favorite desserts, so I have high hopes. The caramel note is very strong in this. It smells
good. It smells sweet and I guess it smells like creme brulee. I don’t know. I almost wish it
had a more prominent sugar note to it. I feel like that would really sell the creme brulee. It
still smells good. I just don’t know how sold I am on it being creme brulee as the scent. The top
note is coconut and caramelized sugar, but I feel like I’m just getting that caramel. The middle is
rum and custard and the base is benzoinne vanilla and maple. This is another one where I feel like
once you burn it, maybe that’s when you get all of those notes together and it seems more so a
crumble scent. But still smells good and still am excited to make it. Next up is another tree
scent. This one is not completely sold out, so you could actually buy this one. It’s a woody aromatic
green tree scent, and that is frasier fur. Okay, I hate to say it now that I’m smelling all the
tree scents. It goes blue, spruce, frasier fur, then mountain pine. You guys are all going crazy
for mountain pine, but I think I like the other tree scents better. Frasier fur feels like it’s a
more well-rounded green kind of scent. Blue spruce is more of a calming kind of green scent and the
mountain pine is more of an in-your-face tree scent. Although I’ve never burned actually Sam has
burned some of my tree candles, but I don’t think I have, so I don’t really know what their hot
throw is like. The top notes of Frasier fur are cypress and lemon peel. The middle is evergreen
and cedar, and the base is fur, amber, and moss. Another new scent to the Maple Candle Co. company
is Salted Honey Butter. This, I don’t know if you could really say, is a winter scent. It could just
be all year round, but they had it listed under their winter fragrances on Candle Science, so I
don’t know. Maybe people will find this to be a wintertime scent. I have just gotten requests for
butteresque scents, and they just added a buttered croissant, so I think I might order that one. But
this is my first attempt into the butter sphere. Oh yeah, the butter is there. Yeah. Yeah, that’s
butter for sure. Since it’s a salted butter, it almost gives like movie theater popcorn butter,
but then the honey gives it this warm sugary kind of feel to it. But I’m definitely excited to make
this one. I do think it could be an all year round candle scent, but I guess I’ll still make it this
winter and see how it does. The top notes are sea salt, honey, and caramel. The middle is butter
pecan and spice, and the base is vanilla. Yeah, it says it blends well with warm croissant, which
is a scent I I will add eventually for those who are requesting the the butter vibes. Next up is
another new one. This is another gourmand for the winter season, and that is vanilla eggnog.
I feel kind of mixed about eggnog. I’ll drink like one cup every winter, but nothing more than
that. Like, if you buy a half gallon of eggnog, I will only contribute one cup, and that
is my max for the year. And after that, eggnog just starts to gross me out. So, I have no
clue how I’m going to feel about it as a candle. This feels empty. Not like not full of liquid, but
like the scent. I don’t know how sold I am that this is eggnog. Still doesn’t smell bad. Still
doesn’t smell bad, but it doesn’t smell like what I pictured in my mind. Let’s look at the fragrance
notes. So, our top note is amaretto. I feel like you can definitely get the amaretto note. Middle
is rum and vanilla. The base is butter, sugar, cream, and spice. I feel like the spice could have
been heavier and the amaretto and rum are taking over too much of the scent and we’re not getting
as much of the other notes out. But I’m also now realizing I’ve never had spiked eggnog. I’ve only
had like the straight up just eggnog. So maybe if I had real spiced eggnog it would smell more like
that. Next up we have another new scent that is a new tree scent to the lineup which is evergreen
and apple. This is a fruity green. Obviously, this one I feel like has the exact 50/50 ratio of apple
and evergreen, but with each sniff you get first apple and then evergreen, but it’s always that
order. And it’s always still 50% of each. Oh, I just spilled a little bit on my hand. So, I guess
I’m going to smell like evergreen and apple. Well, it’s not a bad smell. This one also you can only
get the 1 oz right now. So, if you’re interested, you need to act now. It looks like things are not
getting stocked until the end of October. The top notes here are apple and mandarin. Middle is fur,
juniper, and cranberry. And the base is cedar and sugar. Next up is a Maple Candle Co. Classic,
and that is cinnamon stick. I’ve already made six of these. I got a 4 oz bottle. I’ve already said
I’m in love with cinnamon. There are some haters of the Maple Candle Co. because of that, and
that’s okay. We can’t all like the same things. Cinnamon stick is exactly what I advertise. You
know, it’s it’s straight up just the smell of a cinnamon stick, which I enjoy. I like when you
have just been outside and it’s really cold and you’re trying to like go through the snow. Okay, I
was raised in Wisconsin, so I’m used to, you know, feet of snow. Being outside, you fight through the
snow to finally get inside because mom’s cooking dinner and it smells like cinnamon as soon as
you walk in. Like you get the heat of the house, your cheeks are all rosy, smells like
cinnamon, you’re about to eat dinner, it’s pitch black outside. Those are the vibes
I feel when I see cinnamon stick. The fragrance notes here are no surprise, top notes of cinnamon
and nutmeg. No surprise here, middle note of clove and cinnamon. And then, would you not believe
it, the base note is wood, vanilla, tonka bean, and cinnamon. I’ll forever be making that one just
because I love cinnamon. Okay, so the last two scents are my only non-winter specific scents,
but every once in a while I like to still kind of explore with the classic collection. And by
classic collection, I just mean um scents that are not based upon the seasons that I just make
year round. And I honestly don’t have that many that are just year round because I get so caught
up in the seasonal stuff. So I like to just occasionally get new stuff to see if I want to add
it. And this time I’m trying blueberry cheesecake. Oh yeah. Oh my. Okay, this is actually so good.
This is crazy. This is a fruity gourmand that is like straight up blueberry cheesecake. But it’s
like you just went to a bakery in a small town and you just order this cuz it’s their $1 special
for the day and then it actually blows you out of the water. That’s what this smells like. Now
I’m so excited to make this scent. Now the top note is blueberry. The middle is blueberry and
raisin. The base is graham cracker, spice, cream, sugar, and vanilla. I’m just now realizing I
have no blueberry scented fragrances at all. And I think that’s a missing note. I should add
more blueberry. Next up, on the same exact vibe, I had to know it. I couldn’t just pick
one. We have strawberry cheesecake. Okay. Yeah. Okay. The blueberry cheesecake and the
strawberry cheesecake are definitely going to stay unless I make them and they for some reason
smell terrible as candles. These smell exactly like what they say they’re saying they are. And
it is such a nice amount of sugary warmth with but that fruit note makes it so it’s not too
gourmand. I don’t know when you’d burn these. Maybe in the spring and summer. Maybe that’s
a more likely time to burn them. But yeah. Wow. Nothing wrong with those cheesecakes. So
we have top notes of strawberry, lemon peel, and orange peel. Middle is strawberry. And
the base is graham cracker, vanilla cream, and sugar. They really have that figured out.
I’m a fan of the cheesecake ones. Okay, well that is everything I just put in for my winter
order. I’m excited to make the new scents and uh excited for the cheesecakes. That’s going to go
crazy. I’ll probably be making some winter candle making vlogs as well, probably in the near future.
Not really sure. But thanks everyone for watching. Is there a candle you’re most excited for me to
make? If so, comment down below. Is there any scents you think I’m missing for the winter time?
