Six Senses Kanuhura Maldives, Luxury 5-Star Resort | 4K Tour & Vlog

Today we are going to stay at Six Senses Kanuhura. 5-Star ultra-luxury resort in the Maldives! We’ll take you around the island to see everything that makes Six Senses Kanuhura so special.. ..from unique dining experiences and pristine beaches to our overwater villa, resort activities and more. Please enjoy the tour! Six Senses Kanuhura is situated in the Lhaviyani Atoll of the Maldives. Hello everyone from Maldives airport. Today it is a special day. We will stay at an incredible island resort here in the Maldives! Heading to the seaplane terminal with the Six Senses team. Here we go. Got some water on board. (Excited!) Arrived at the seaplane terminal, where everyone flies to the 1,190 islands that make up the Maldives. Someone from the team came to take us to the Six Senses lounge. There are actually two Six Senses properties in the Maldives. Six Senses Kanuhura and Six Senses Laamu. A beautiful and relaxing place to wait before the flight. Tables have a beautiful chessboard design. We’ll make ourselves comfortable by the window. But first… ..let’s check out the food. Yummy brioches.
Banana bread! Caramelized focaccia with some cheese and olives. With rosemary. Simple breads. Butter and marmelade. Laamu granola.
That means only Six Senses Laamu guests can eat it? Dried papaya, kiwi, pineapple. Roasted almonds and cashews.
Super food cookies and dates. Coconut cookies!
Laamu chocolate cookies. There are some juices as well. And yogurts. Pineapple and cinnamon juice.
Orange ones. Sis Senses water. And our friend, the coffee machine. Let’s have a look at the terrace and the view. We’ll fly with one of these seaplanes soon. ✈️ There is also a custom seaplane called the “Flying Turtle” that operates between Velana International Airport (Malé) and Laamu Atoll. So we can only fly with the turtle if we are staying at Six Senses Laamu. The lounge also has changing rooms and showers for guests. Fortunately, if guests had a long flight, they can freshen up here
before the most beautiful flight in the world. Fully equipped bathroom. Towels, water, soap and lotion. Items available upon request. Shower! If we get bored, we can play some cards or games. Or Make a coffee. Thank you Franke. You made a beautiful coffee. I don’t put sugar in my coffee, so I’ll have a chocolate muffin instead. Our seaplane is ready so let’s get going. To the gates area. We’ll be flying with Manta Air. The flight takes about 40 minutes and offers breathtaking island views. It’s often called one of the most scenic flights in the world. Before departure, the staff gives a short safety briefing about the flight. Earplugs and napkins. Almost ready. Seaplanes always make me a bit nervous. I kinda don’t know why. Flying above Malé, the capital city of the Maldives. Those look like local islands.
An island resort. Wowow. Look at all these beautiful shades of turquoise! By the way. The seaplane transfer to Six Senses Kanuhura usually costs around USD 800–1,000 per person round-trip. Quite expensive. Arrived in the paradise. The Six Senses Kanuhura team is already waiting at the arrival jetty. Someone is playing the drum. As soon as we arrive, we’re introduced to our personal butler. Each villa comes with a personal butler who takes care of everything throughout the stay. It’s a barefoot resort, so our shoes were taken the moment we arrived. Welcome drink, towels and some coconut. Happy day. This is the arrival jetty. From here, we’ll start our buggy island tour before heading to our villa. This is the starting point of the tour. First, we’re introduced to the main features of Kanuhura Island. Kanuhura Island is about 450 meters wide and 1.4 kilometer long, making it one of the larger resort islands in the Maldives. Six Senses Kanuhura opened in 2023, after taking over the former One&Only Kanuhura resort. It’s considered a sustainable barefoot resort, focused on eco-friendly practices and a natural way of living. We’ll be staying at Six Senses Kanuhura for 4 days. (This video will feature Day 1 and Day 2 of our stay). Latheef will be our “gem”, short for Guest Experience Maker, the Six Senses version of a personal butler. The island has everything you could dream of. Now heading to one of their pools, The Point. The Point is the island’s stunning infinity pool area, located at the western tip of Kanuhura. There is also a Spanish restaurant located below the pool. We’ll enjoy dinner here tonight. Next and last stop is our villa. We’ll be staying in one of their overwater villas, on the sunrise side of the island. Six Senses Kanuhura has a total of 91 villas divided between beachfront and overwater categories. The overwater villas look brand new. We’re given some information about the marine life we can spot in the water around our villa. Hi. It’s a beautiful heron bird! If we’re lucky, we might spot some baby sharks swimming near the beach. Alright, let’s take the overwater room tour now. This is the Family Water Villa With Pool category. There are 2 bicycles with our initials waiting by the entrance door. Nice touch! Room key card.
It is made of wood and it features a turtle on the back. Foot cleaner is a turtle. Umbrellas. Ok but what’s this? If we don’t need housekeeping, we place this little wooden fish inside the box. Apparently it’s their eco-friendly way of saying ‘Do Not Disturb.’ Welcome to our home for the next few nights. It’s a spacious 126 m² overwater retreat with a large bedroom and living room, a dressing area, indoor and outdoor bathrooms, private plunge pool and terrace. Some welcome gifts. This is what it looks like from another angle. A coat rack and a small area for storing shoes. Working desk. A cute handwritten welcome message from our gem, Latheef. There are some papers and welcome bracelets on the desk. This resort loves turtle decorations. Six Senses–branded bracelets. On this paper, we’re invited to write our intentions for the stay and later see if we’ve fulfilled them. Welcome letters and resort activities for the next couple of days. Spa menu and in room dining menu. The bed looks nice and comfy. Comfy pillows for sure. Lamp and reading lights. Six Senses phone with a special button to directly contact our gem. Notepads and pen. Since it’s a sustainable resort, even the housekeeping sign is made of wood. We only place it on the bed when we need the sheets replaced. What else, what else? A Marshall speaker.
The outlets and USB ports are new. Walls have an interesting pattern. Exploring time. This table is full of stuff. Handwritten letter from the general manager. Welcome tropical fruits. Hairy fruit. Homemade chocolates and small bars. Healthy cookies and dates filled with orange.
Smells little oranges. Dried slices pf papaya and pineapple. Chocolates. A bottle of Gruet Champagne, sparkling wine from New Mexico, USA. Coconut water! Hurray. Alcoholic beverages like Hennessy, Absolut Vodka, Chivas Regal. Sis Senses roasted almonds. And cashews. Bennetto organic dark crunchy caramel chocolate. Chips with olive oil, vegetable chips, with black truffles. Japanese style coffee cups. They’re from Kevala brand. Continuing with the glasses. And the refrigerator. Antioxidant infusion with passion fruit and orange.
With ginger and lime. Light tonic water. Alain Milliat apple juice. Full cream milk for our coffee or tea. Beers. Bruno Paillard champagne, product of France. Minibar prices start at $6 for a soda and go up to $150 for the champagne. Continuing the room tour with the dressing area. It is spacious. There are many storage spaces for our clothes and stuff. In room amenities include aloe vera, sunscreen, insect repellent. Safety box. Laundry bag. Laundry pricing list. A bag for the swimwear. Wardrobe.
Lots of hungers. Two different Six Senses bathrobes. Box, night light. I am not sure what is this but it looks to scare the mosquitoes away. Indoor slippers. They feel nice to touch and I think they are also handmade. Beach bag and yoga mats. Each room comes with a sustainable little toy named Miru. We can purchase this for $30 and contribute to Six Senses’ commitment to sustainability. Bathroom. It’s a spacious one with a freestanding tub and outdoor shower.. ..and a hammock! Double vanity with marble countertops. Lemongrass soap by Six Senses. Face towels, hand soap and body lotion. Water pressure is good. Makeup mirror is basic. Protected socket with an on/off switch. Many items are placed below. All amenities come in sustainable paper packaging. Digital scale. Bath tub. Duck is included. Bath salt. Sustainable loofah. Towel box and fresh towels. Toilet area. Walk-in shower in the corner. Trio of refillable bath amenities. It’s a beautiful one. The outdoor area features an open-sky shower and a hammock. Simple design under the stars. Is this only for design or? If not, I am taking the first bath. Yep, it’s functional. There are no underwater guests at the moment. Daikin air conditioning and heating system. Resort evacuation plan. Is it just me, or does this island look like a fish?!! The clearest peephole I’ve ever seen. We can adjust the fan however we like. Finally, the outdoor deck with a private plunge pool. There are turtles on the windows. As we open the doors, the turquoise lagoon stretches right in front of us. Relaxation place and dining table to the right. A private 16 square meter pool. Outdoor relaxing platform with loungers. This amazing overwater villa can accommodate up to three guests. Direct lagoon access this way.
Hand shower. What was your favorite part of the room? Tell us in the comments. Prices start around $1,800 per night, depending on the season. We arrived at the resort quite late, so we’re heading straight to The Point to catch the sunset. Subscribe to our channel and join us on more journeys around the world! There are signs everywhere, so it’s hard to get lost. 🙂 First, we’ll take a look at the most exclusive accommodations on the island. They are located near The Point. The Two Bedroom Beach Retreat with pool. With over 2800 square feet of space and a private pool overlooking the ocean, this is one of the resort’s most prestigious villas. It’s priced at around $3,500 per night. Arrived at The Point. It is a good looking building. First, we’ll have a quick tour of their Spanish Restaurant. Warm terracotta tones and tropical plants. The Spanish restaurant is called The Point and it serves modern Spanish tapas with sunset views. It’s open for lunch from 12pm to 4pm and dinner from 7pm to 10:30pm. We’ve reserved this table for our dinner. The atmosphere is calming. There are only a few tables here, so it’s advisable to book in advance. The restaurant features an open kitchen. We can also dine here and watch the chefs cook in front of us. Reading glasses are available in case we forgot ours and need to read the menu. Cool! Now heading to the sunset bar, located upstairs. This is the “Sunset Point”. Here you get a panoramic view of the ocean either from the sunset bar or the infinity pool. It’s the best spot to enjoy golden hour and relax. Infused water is complimentary. And sunscreen. Long bar where we can enjoy drinks and cocktails. You haven’t see the good part of this place yet. It’s not the pool… ..it’s the hammocks floating above the sea! Say HII. Beautiful scenery indeed. Take a seat and explore the bar menu. Received some complimentary snacks. Sunset cocktails menu. Non-alcoholic options like Strawberry Basil. Gimlet.
Kombucha by Kanuhura!! Beers.
Sake, tea and coffee. Ordered a coconut instead. Each drink comes with a small amuse-bouche. The infinity pool turns into a ring of light. Dinner time already. The atmosphere changes a bit at night, but I think it’s even better now. I am looking forward to seeing tonight’s menu. Are those… crabs? It’s like a crab fashion show. Let’s continue. Table setting is simple. Freshly-baked bread with some salsa sauce on the side. Dinner menu. The Point starts with dishes from the earth. Fresh garden salads, fried padrón peppers and cold gazpacho soup. Then comes from the ocean with scallops, prawns with garlic, and the daily boat catch. And of course, a full wine list. Champagne, rosé, red, white, everything by the glass. Old World wines from France and Italy, starting at $65 and going up to $370. Bread is nice. Let’s try it with some olive oil. Spanish cuisine is meant to be shared, so we’ll try several dishes. Fresh fairy, padron peppers, patatas braves. These peppers grow actually on the island! These little cubes are potatoes. A dish I forgot the name of… but it looks like bread with cheese. Aioli and chili sauce. SO Some peppers burn, some don’t… wish us luck. First one is not that hot. This is really nice! Disappeared. Fresh Fairy is a quinoa salad with ricotta cheese and pomegranate. Our first Spanish dinner and the flavors are a great surprise. He’s looking for some fish maybe. Pork cheeks. The server recommended it and he was absolutely right. It turned out to be one of our favorites. Pulpo is grilled octopus with paprika. Thank you chef for this dinner. By the way, the chef is from Barcelona Spain and he’s the kindest person! Dessert menu. They offer churros, cream catalana, gelato and other licores. Cheesecake with coconut ice cream. Crema Catalana is a traditional Spanish dessert, similar to crème brûlée. It’s interesting. This ice cream is incredible. It comes in a chocolate shell. The cheesecake itself reminds me of a panna cotta. Thank you for the meal and thank you crabs for being here. Overwater villas deck is lit during the night. The lights from the villas reflect beautifully on the water’s surface. Almost back to our villa. It’s our first time staying at a Six Senses hotel. And what a beautiful first day at Kanuhura. The bed is now arranged for the best sleep ever. In terms of our first day on the Kanuhura island… It’s been peaceful and full of small, thoughtful details. Every corner feels connected to nature from the villas to the beaches. The Spanish cuisine was delicious and we are very grateful to be here. Good nights! 7:00am. Woke up to the sound of waves… Now heading to breakfast. Breakfast is held at their all-day dining buffet restaurant, The Market. The Market opens from 7am to 11am for breakfast. It is quite loud so we can really hear it from the breakfast. The Very Berry Smoothie is with granola, fruits, blackberry syrup. Fruit salad and fruits. Thank you for the food. We continue our beautiful sunny day here at Six Senses with a walk around the island. The water looks very clear today. The catamaran is anchored right in front of the main beach. There are sun loungers arranged in two lines. A stone turtle. The pool looks very calm this morning as there are not so many people around. I love how open this area feels. It is a beautiful infinity pool. Turtles as decor elements. The sun loungers are arranged for the day. While we walked around this area, many people came to stay at the pool and bar. I am excited for our turtle salari later on… The pool has an underwater seating area. By the way, if you want to stay here, drop us a comment or email and we will be more than happy to help. The scenery is amazing. The pool temperature is around 25 degrees Celsius, so it feels perfect. The palm trees around the pool have a bright green color. There are loungers inside the pool where we can relax. It is a medium-sized pool. I thought there would be more people by the pool but it is actually very quiet. Pool towels and lemonade. Sunscreen and disinfectant. It’s called cool cucumber. It’s a long and wide beach. Kanuhura island was previously part of the One&Only brand. Kanuhura is a natural island with soft powdery sand. The team will explain to us how everything is made and how they reduce waste. Six Senses Kanuhura is a fully sustainable resort, with many projects focused on protecting the island and the ocean. Here, with this system they grow nearly 2,000 plants, just enough for the island consumption. They will go directly to the kitchen.
And they will use it in the salads. They also have a project where they melt glass and turn it into new items for the island. For instance, this one can be used as a platter or a decorative element. Some other nice designs. Jellyfish! This activity is all about their sustainability concept and getting to know the island better. The duration is about one hour. This is a Banyan Tree. 1. my poor ass will never let me step foot into this sort of resort in my entire life, and i have like 40~50 more years left before i kick the bucket… So yeah… when there's a war or major riot, i'll be stealing lots of stuff from rich people houses like you.

  2. This stunning 4K tour of Six Senses Kanuhura is the perfect inspiration for a luxury Maldivian getaway. 🏝🏝

Does the barefoot philosophy mean you truly never have to wear shoes on the island?

    👍

  4. I love the maldives and have already been 2 times, with a 3rd trip coming up next year.

HOWEVER. I feel it is now completely overpriced and just absolutely gouging tourists who want to go.

Every hotel now feels the same. The only difference is how big your villa is.

    Real shame.

  5. An amazing hotel, but for me lacking in true maledivian flair.
Also the boom boom of the background music would get on my nerves

  6. you made a truly useful video! Only with your precision we can prepare correctly to visit the resort. great job and big thank you!
