È un cornetto non è un croissant
If it was salty or not sweet, it’s probably a type of bread that is common in some part of Italy which is kind of a hybrid between a French croissant and an Italian panino.
I see you bought the cornetto from a supermarket, it's not fresh and the texture is completely different from cornetto at Italian "bars"/ coffee shops. I recommend buying from the shops for the authentic flavor, texture, and experience 😊
