VIENNA FOOD – Local Austrian Food & Vienna’s Biggest Market
In this video we are visiting everything from the lively Naschmarkt to a cozy local schnitzel shop and finally a historic tavern, this video shows both the traditional and modern food scene of Vienna. Watch until the end for the full experience!
*Naschmarkt*
Our food tour starts at the famous Naschmarkt, one of the most well-known markets in Vienna. This historic market has over 100 different vendors and restaurants offering a huge variety of foods. While you can still find some Austrian specialties here, the overall atmosphere is very international and often quite oriental. You’ll see everything from würstel and Austrian snacks to kebab, falafel, and baklava. It’s a lively place where locals and tourists come together to eat, shop, and explore.
*Opern Schnitzel*
Next we visit Opern Schnitzel, a small local eatery near the city center. Although the shop offers a mix of international food, they specialize in freshly made chicken schnitzel. The schnitzel is prepared to order, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside — a quick but delicious stop during our Vienna food tour.
*Original Würstelstand – Kupferschmiedgasse*
After that we head to the heart of Vienna, Stephansplatz, one of the most famous squares in the city. Here we enjoy classic Austrian street food at a wurstelstand, one of the most iconic food experiences in Vienna. The area is always lively, full of shops and tourists, and although it can be expensive, it’s an interesting place to walk around and see the shops.
*Schank zum Reichsapfel*
Our final stop is Schank zum Reichsapfel, a very traditional Austrian tavern. The food here is classic and hearty, with dishes like pork belly and Fleischknödel served in a rustic setting. The food itself was very delicious and authentic, although unfortunately the overall vibe didn’t quite match the quality of the dishes.

That was not great. The market was the same foods on repeat every few metres and over priced. The snitzel and fries looked tasty. As for the restaurant the owner was probably drunk on the job totally unprofessional. Not on my travel bucket list 😅
Dont Show random people in your Videos.. its not allowed here and also not in germany they can go to lawyer and let you pay a big compensation. try to blure them with yt tools.
Have you considered a visit to Albania? I think you would like it, great food scene and hospitality.. also film how much you want 😂👍
What a disappointing experience for you and your son. You weren’t bothering anyone, and actually spent a decent amount of money in that restaurant – you would think the owner would appreciate that. Oh well, I guess the locals just want to keep that restaurant to themselves. Let them. There are a world of other wonderful food adventures out there for you, Alex! Thanks (from Australia) for taking us along with you 😀
The owner's behavior is inexcusable. He clearly chose the wrong profession, and on top of that, he probably didn't realize that you're the perfect advertisement for his business. But apparently, a few local regulars—and enough wine for his own consumption—are enough for him. Sad but true!
The restaurant owner reckons he was drinking "apple juice", and not wine, he just used the wine glass to look posh.
I've never eaten Austrian food but looks like nothing at all. Zero for any culinary skills. Pointless food in that country maybe ? I Need to study what else they have but seems like nothing interesting. Maybe some soups are good ? Some sausages maybe. Seems like a wasteland of recipes. Maybe I'm wrong ?
No offence, Alex, but I had a similar situation in Bratislava. Some Italians on the table next to us had their camera lights on while eating and it was quite distracting while I was trying to enjoy the traditional Slovakian foods with my girl. I had to tell them politely to shut it off. Thanks anyway for another great video.
Great video. I hate that some folks were acting like douche canoes to you over a tiny filming light. Talk about owners drinking while working. Check out "Bar Rescue" when you can. Jon Taffer (host) doesn't put up with that crap. Well, anyway… love your YouTube videos, Brotherman. 😊
Hello Alex, I have some great suggestions for you for next time you visit Napoli. I will email you. 🙂Thank you for the great video as always! 👍🏻👍🏻
wow it's unfortunate that the owner and the lady were so rude 😔
Will you ever visit Finland? 🇫🇮
2018 in St. Gilgen Austria, a waiter told us to sit anywhere so we did. Another rude waiter jumped our 💩 for sitting at a wrong table, we got up and left. Can't recall if I gave him a dirty look or the finger. I hear a lot of Austrians (not all) think like their 💩don't stink.
"I plan to food vlog" 😂. Definitely the food looked delish! Sofia and Belgrade next stop boss🎉
Cold but yummy!
Austrians or German, all same ! Allgerman speaking people are very arogant and just like the Americans, they believe that they are superior race. Garbage !!!! You are great, love your work. Thank you for sharing.
Danke danke shanke shanke
We encountered something similar in Salzburg. Taj Mahal restaurant.
An Indian owned and served good Indian food.
The waiter was drinking beer and smoking a cigarette 🚬 too.
As I spoke to the owner he informed me that he’s allowed 2, 500ml of beer and could smoke too while working.
Did surprise me.
