Hong Kong Left Us Absolutely Speechless… 😱

we are currently in Hong Kong our 47th
country this epic city is filled with so many interesting and quirky things
to do including a $1 faery but to tell the story of our first impressions of
Hong Kong properly we need to rewind 24 hours we have absolutely loved our time in
Malaysia but the excitement level that I have for Hong Kong is through the roof this flight
marks the start of really fast travel for us we are seeing six more countries in the next
6 weeks and not just like the main city in that country we’re traveling the countries
yeah it’s going to be hard and fast but we are super excited and Hong Kong feels like
a great place to start it is full of deep history apparently amazing food awesome SES
and I cannot wait to get there plan that way there is no one on this flight Jordan and I
each have a row of three ourselves plus two behind me one two in front of me Jordan has
three in front of him how did we get so lucky your now demonstrate the use of the safety
equipment carried on this aircraft please give your attention to the F at the front of
your cabin this is your seat Bel to fet insert the metal link into the Buckle and tighten the
belt by 4 hours in a very empty flight later and we’ve made it home for those of you that don’t
know Hong Kong it’s made up of three main land masses and a bunch of different Islands the
airport’s actually on its own Island out to the side so to get to our hotel which is pretty
centrally located we need to get public transport so I believe the easy way to get into the
city from the airport is the airport express but that is much more expensive than the bus
a21 is in the yellow the bus system here I’m impressed with already not only can we pay on
my card like we had to download the app but I can just tap on tap off with my phone but
the way this is all laid out at the airport is so seamless that we can understand it as
idiot tourists and just idiots in general yeah nice very good thank you one one so easy was so cute I think
a lot of people get it wrong with like one taps or two Taps stuff
no it’s getting frustrated but we who Okay hectic finish to the bus
but we got a six minute walk to our hotel nice wow this is so spacious this a this is great look at all of this room
I love it we’ll show you around in the morning good morning from Hong Kong Country 47 crazy I
cannot believe we are in country 47 and we are already head over heels in love with this place
I also slept like a damn baby this bed I don’t know what they have in it but I feel like I was
just hugged all night it could have been cuz we were tired but I feel like it was the pillows
and the duvet so white and fluffy it’s also located right next to Victoria Harbor which is
where you kind of want to be in Hong Kong it’s where all the action is we’ve got Avenue of the
Stars down the road and something interesting to eat okay this isn’t the original plan we had
for this morning but I put on Instagram asking for Hong Kong recommendations and one just came
through for a place that’s literally around the corner thank you first Hong Kong coffee I feel
like maybe we should have asked for extra hot but it’s like super drinkable temperature right
now but I feel like I need to scul it right now at the same time if that makes sense that’s
like my temperature it’s your temperature I like it a bit hotter than this but that place was
awesome very organized I’m loving that about Hong Kong so far you go in one way out the other
apparently their sourdough egg Tarts is what they’re known for because they already sold
out and it’s 9:00 a.m. they opened an hour ago and they’re sold out so this is one of the things
that we leared about in Hong Kong in preparation for coming here is that they are one of the
only countries remaining in the world that uses bamboo for scaffolding because it’s cheaper
easier to source and as far as like safety and strength goes it’s the same if not better
than still isn’t that crazy it looks so cool people are so bloody nice I like walked down and
you weren’t here and I stopped and turned around and I couldn’t see you but I could feel this
vibrate so I knew you were still close enough that you were turning on the camera and getting
something and I was like is he duck down behind the bamboo no you were just having a lovely chat
to an awesome lady that was so nice God as if we didn’t love Hong Kong already just as we were
talking about the bamboo scaffolding and how cool it is a woman came up and started talking
to us she say she’s just a civil engineer and was talking about how they use this bamboo and how
it’s so much prettier than dis steal but also more useful and she showed us what you they tie it
together with and ah she was great man people here that was so cool God I love it we’ve been
up for like half an hour love this place so so cool wow this is crazy it’s such a big city oh well that’s just one island of the city
that’s Hong Kong Island and it is ginormous what’s awesome is I’m pretty sure this is where
you can watch the Symphony of the lights from and it’s literally a 2-minute walk from our hotel
what’s the Symphony of the lights every single night at I think 8:30 p.m. the Hong Kong Skyline
puts on a light show to Symphony music I guess I don’t really know if there’s music involved just
the word symphony is making me sh that there is but it’s a super popular like one of the top
tourist attractions to come and do and it’s completely free so we might try and end the day
today with that because I think with our current plans that should make sense but the day is
already off to like a crazy exciting start so who knows so the original plan was to get
something completely different but like Emily said someone told us an Instagram that we
can’t miss the bake house so we had to stop off there this morning and pick up to incredibly
goodlook pastries and some coffee but we did also stop off and got a p what’s it called
pineapple pineapple bun bun and it has not a scrap of pineapple in it whatsoever the name
pineapple bun comes from the appearance of the bun like the breakage of the top I guess the
crust people don’t really know where it’s come from originally but there’s someone who claims
that his shop that opened in the’ 40s was the first to make them and it was actually frying
something that is an old chinesee dish so it existed before and then he fried it and then he
made a new thing but it’s disputed no one really knows but it’s massive in Hong Kong and it has
been exported globally because of how popular it is all right I’m going to try the pineapple
bun first what I’m least excited for if I’m honest just tastes like a bun like it’s nice
it’s very light and fluffy I have not much to say about this we didn’t get it from anywhere
like specific we just went to literally the place that’s downstairs from our hotel so it’s
super close and it was 9 Hong Kong so it didn’t really cost much at all I will say the top crust
is quite nice the bun like interior just tastes like a regular bun but there’s like a little
sweetness on top it’s nice but I’m way more excited for Bak house this one I’m so excited for
hazelnut donut I think and it feels like you know when you feel a donut and it’s got that little
bit of give little bit of smoosh really nice really flaky honestly not as good as I thought
it would be wow I think maybe the strawberry one is going to be going to be the winner have
you got stuff in there it seems like it’s stuff it seems like it should be right yeah there’s
like a hole maybe further in take another bite take another bite if I have to take another
bite the cream on the inside tastes exactly like Ferrera Rocher like that kind of H nutti so
that is really really good we just got to get to it try the other one I asked the lovely lady at
the shop what her favorite was and she said the sourdough Tarts which they were sold out of um and
then her second was this so I had to get that it looks like there’s little pistachios maybe on top
just quickly are they sourdough Tarts yeah oh wow it’s sourdough egg Tarts so I think it’s maybe
like we’ve obviously had egg Tarts in Malaysia this is like a different thing like the casing
is sourdough somehow um but clearly very very popular sounded good it was really good the
entire thing is like glazed but it tastes like a strawberry flavor glaze M I haven’t even
gotten to the good stuff and that was really good this seems like it’s a super popular thing to do
cuz we’ve seen I’ve seen three other people with a little Bak house bag come down to Avenue of
the Stars which is almost like Hollywood’s Walk of Fame like there is a lot of hand prints for
acclaimed actresses actors filmmakers thespians all that sort of stuff it’s really popular
tourist thing to do and apparently there’s a statue of Bruce Lee somewhere that we’re going to
try and find it is a great spot for a picnic cuz not only is it Avenue of the Stars no no but
it’s also an insane view of Hong Kong Island we always seem to be eating like our sugary
fakes deep fried things in places where who will go for runs really puts it in perspective it
makes it taste better makes it taste better also we get comments all the time on these videos
saying like a bunch of recommendations so I’m start asking before we go somewhere on Instagram
so we can get awesome recommendations like this cuz we had no idea this existed so make sure
you follow us there and thank you to on today’s Adventures for this recommendation cuz I agree
bake house is worth the hype you guys are the best Avenue of the Stars is a 440 M length kind
of walkway runway on the Calon Peninsula and apparently Bruce Le was awarded
actor of the century wow I don’t know if that was awarded like by Hong Kong or
like a global thing but fair enough he’s pretty good our next stop is actually
not on the Calon peninsula where we are now we have to go across to Hong Kong
Island and there is one fun way to do that so Hong Kong used to be a small little
fishing Village and it’s probably one of the best examples of a place that’s exploded into
not only a central place for Asia but a Global Financial hub for everything it was under the
Imperial Chinese rule until 1842 where the British kind of claimed it after an opium War I don’t
really know the real specifics of that but it was under British Ro for decades centuries even
and that’s why I think some of the architecture looks the way it does how perfect timing is that
we are literally pulling into court right now Central is quite hilly we’re walking up a street
with heaps of steps I do know that the escalators are one of the like tourist attractions here but
we have one more full day here so we’re trying to save some stuff for tomorrow and the next video so
we are hoofing it today it’s a good exercise it is making me hungry already but we’re going to go see
a temple and then find something to eat I think I love man Mo Temple that was literally a
little like oh yeah I guess we’ll go see that Temple cuz it’s kind of nearby that was
awesome and like a group came in just after us and they were talking about the history of it
so we learned that it’s a tow Temple and that those red things that were hanging off the
lanterns are like people’s wishes yeah and the incense burning around them is the smoke
taking the wish up to the gods I didn’t even hear that BD that’s amazing the other thing
that I did know is it was built around 1847 in the Qing Dynasty I’m not sure if that’s how you
pronounce it it’s q i n g oh Ching Dynasty um and it this air in there is thick with incense feel
like you could push the air it’s that th you can smell it on the outside you can see it coming
out it is stunning like it just gives it this awesome atmosphere all of the red like with the
darkness that the Smoke’s created I don’t know I really like it it’s super moody and again zero
expectations but when you’re in Hong Kong come and check it out free entry it’s very unique and
I’m sure there’s more history about it that we might put in as a voiceover or something like
that cuz I just loved that that was my one of my favorite temples we’ve ever been to yeah it’s
right up there for me as well and the Open Flame and the incense burning is just like so I don’t
know it’s atic and pleasing to the eye also we learned that the toist religion worships monkey
gods and there’s multiple different monkey gods in there and if you want to like donate or kind
of contribute you can get your own incense incense and thing to write down your own wish and put it
in there as well all right moving on moving on one thing we are loving about Hong Kong is how
many trees there are in dispersed throughout the city the noise isn’t matching how my brain
thinks it should be like how many buildings and like there should be heaps of people here
and the city noise should be really loud but it’s just not it’s beautiful they’ve got like
lots of oneway streets which makes navigating the streets so much easier elevated Pathways
treelined so many places which feels like it’s kind of absorbing the noise and cooling
the city down yeah I don’t know they’ve done something right yeah I’m just having the
best day ever all right let’s get some food so you go up to 1,000 Cs and there’s a lot of
people yelling and no one really knows what’s going on and I got something I tried to say
pork a lot but I don’t think my English pork translates very well so this literally
could be anything I didn’t get chicken feed though she kept me like chicken be like
no I’m still not really sure what I got um it’s definitely tasting seafoody but it tastes
kind of like crab maybe broad but I think crab I don’t know it’s actually a really good system
I don’t mind it at all there you just got what do you want bang Circle done pay at the end
once you know what you’re doing it’s pretty good thank you should save the egg Tarts for the end right that makes sense yeah so
like bouncy looks looks cartoonish again o what it’s almost sweet I have no idea
it’s really good I was expecting like barbecue chicken or pork it’s like custard almost
it’s really good though like a dessert one this place is insane and needs to be on your list I think we’re ending who with some
egg tars it’s a lot more eggy than the ones we’ve had before the egg pots we’ve
had before but it’s also a lot flakier like the crust so the way this place works cuz we had
no idea thank thankfully we were sitting next to a love couple that helped us is you’ll get S
sat down at a table and given a piece of paper then there’s people walking around with these
old school metal trolleys and just stacks and stuff on top you walk up and tell them what you
want they’ll give you a tray with all of it on top marker off on your little piece of paper
you bring it back to your table to enjoy and then you just take your paper up and that’s how
they know how much to charge you so we have no idea how much this costs or really what anything
was or is we also got a beautiful fragrant I think jasmine tea when we sat down it seems like
they walk around and offer it to people as well so you don’t have to hop up every time but
because we’re sort of like inside they can’t get to us quite easily but this is super fun if
you’re coming to Hong you need to come here I will say I think they sell out so come early
um they also have a break in the middle of the day for a couple of hours so yeah try and time it
to come here cuz this is awesome that was so much fun and so expensive and we met an awesome
couple right at the end and they gave me pork knuckle which I’m deciding I don’t want to know
what that is and we’ve got to she’s giving some of this to try she said it’s sweet and it’s got
Ginger and it’s good for the ladies thank you okay it’s so gingery I really like that
it’s like spicy from the ginger feels healthy we try something special
a TR traditional food oh wow in like this Ginger thing and it’s going to be
really good for the ladies it was delicious 190 h k d n a u 40 bucks crazy Hong
Kong is not a budget friendly place but it is very very fun but now
we’re going to somewhere free so such old school stairs I personally would never think of
Zoological Park as like a free thing to do but the botanical garden and Zoological Park
in Hong Kong is completely free to enter I think some of the sections are closed at the
moment for disinfection and maintenance so we won’t see hips of animals but it’s nice
to come here and get a break from the city so this Zoological and Botanic Garden Park was
founded in 1864 which apparently makes it one of the earliest in the entire world which is
such a cool fact for Hong Kong to have that kind of history but there’s mammals birds Gardens
obviously heaps of orchids here which is like the national flower of Hong Kong it’s such a cool
place to just walk around cool off a little bit and work off all the dumplings did not know
Gibbons were the most playful and cute animals ex the mammal areas actually closed off so there’s
meant to be heaps more to see through here but I think it’s like disinfection and cleaning oh we
got to see the little gim Gibbons though very cool we got s Gib but that is not the last thing we’re
doing today no we’re going to go back to the hotel to quickly freshen up before something fun to end
the day with and just like that we are about to board a Sunset Cruise on the oldest boat in Hong
Kong I’m so excited they look so cute you can already see them sailing they have these massive
red sails and it’s like a old wooden Fisher Bo fisher boat fisherman boat fishing boat it’s
an old wooden fishing boat I’m so excited thank you we scooch over the other side Maybe this is so much fun we got goodat
too I know they’re not meant to be seats feel this is quite right next to the driver driver I decided to go for a
beer you can get a beer juice one drink included and we’re out
on the river watching sunset on the he probably has to be one of the best ways
to see the sunset slash just like moving from daytime to nighttime because the skyline
that was so romantic I really like that and it was like we got these tickets through
get your guide today so if in Hong Kong you should definitely book on there are
a few other options like for sunset or unlimited drinks funs options if you want
them I think the duckling is the way to go little bit historic little bit fun much more
romantic and they only C 35 people Max on your own # not sponsored oh yeah it’s not sponsored
I’m just having the best day ever # # stop I had such a great first full day in
Hong Kong yeah it has been incredible and so much more than I thought it was
going to be yeah and we missed a bunch like so many exciting things still left
to do but we’re saving that for tomorrow and the next video yeah before you comment
you you’re still on this what’s the next one and then feel free to comment yeah if we’ve
still forgotten stuff from there let us know

Hong Kong should be on your list!

We had always heard Hong Kong was a popular stop-over destination and now we fully understand why! Hong Kong has it all and more!

Only having two days meant we had to cram A LOT of things in but we think we got to see the city’s best sides.

Spoiler: we LOVED it!

  1. Greeting from Sydney! Welcome to my hometown of Hong Kong! Loving my life in Sydney but I do miss HK sometimes and I’m glad you guys enjoyed! 😊

  2. As a local, I’m quite surprised that you chose to take the bus instead of the AirPort Express😮 Just curious… did you feel it’s hard or confused for when and where to get off the bus? From my point of view, apparently taking the MTR should be much easier for visiter

17:45 if you would like to try the BBQ pork bun, they actually look different from the sweet bun😂

  3. A hot coffee that’s not hot enough is mostly because cold milk is added to the hot coffee. I will ask for hot milk in advance.

  4. Hong Kong maintains its internaional city characteristic after handover back to China, in fact, China developes faster then Hong Kong.

  5. This was so helpful! And cute! I am travelling to Hong Kong with my 16 year old son in September…and loved your recommendations! As an Aussie..lovely to see some Oz y you tubers ( as well as all the others I enjoy):

  6. Don't forget to visit King Kong and is not too far from Hong Kong. Check with local tour agent ☺️☺️☺️

  7. Why don’t you go to an authentic restaurant and order an authentic drink: 鴛鴦 Yuanyang, which is a cup of half coffee and half milk tea.

  8. You pair crack us up. You pair represent Aussie's well. Just wish we could be doing it with ya!
