  1. I'm so glad Mr Oliver uses the metric system in his recipes – in this recipe at least. I'm always at a lost when watching documentaries that deal with grains, fathoms, pints, gallons, stones and other such utter nonsense. The only one I know is the yard, which is like a metre, somewhat dwarfish.

  2. My Grandma has an Aga and so whenever we make them in about september, it goes in the aga overnight and what comes out is the most amazing rich, treacle-black pudding you ever could get – recipe is a good housekeeping one from the 1950s

  3. We study this reception on lessons of teaching retraining on translation in university! Course of translation in higher education.
    Very interesting!

  4. Its December 2023 so I need to plan this for Christmas 2024 because I live in Asia now and it is a challenge to get all the ingredients. It took six months just to get the spices for the Christmas cake I just made.

  5. Please consider removing your ring or wearing gloves before preparing food. I can only imagine the cultures living under it. Couldn’t get past the 30 second mark. 😖🤢🤮

  6. Lovely pudding- in Ireland we add booze of course- pre-soak the dried fruit with it overnight. Would that work or would I have to add in more dry ingredients? 🥃🎄

  7. This year, I made some mini Christmas puddings AND I used crystallized ginger and rosemary!!! It's lovely nice smell and taste 😋❤

  8. I don't have that much space overhead to put it on flame. The cupboards are above. Perhaps I'll do it on the table also lighting the pan over the table.

  9. Just watched the Poirot episode "Theft of the Royal Ruby" where the stolen ruby was hidden in christsmas pudding, had to look up what it was…………so its just fruit cake? Its funny, in America no one seems to like fruit cake

  10. Little bit different from Fanny Cradock's with her green brandy butter in the shape of a christmas tree decorated with angelica and cherries.

  11. My Nana had a recipe, involved candied fruit and a lot of rum. Anyway, not available as she passed decades ago, so I made this (no rum was harmed in the making) and it turned out quite well, although my sprig of Rosemary was possibly too much and I will have to watch that next time.
