And the seasons/episodes with Dwight being the manager are among the lesser like and known office eps. I think it would have been hard to show Snape being headmaster and still have that turn at the end being as impactful. Dark arts teacher, im sure would have been an easier thing to show. Also look up the deleted scene with Draco "helping" Harry to start the final battle. I wish it had been included.

Well, when I did my Pottermore test I got Gryffindor instantly, so I Tara's reaction is awesome and funny enough my Patronus is a Dolphin. Ps: At first I felt like Greg would be Gryffindor and Tara would be Ravenclaw but, I'm happy with how it turned out for both of you.
I agree to feeling a bit cheated that the deaths of Fred, Lupin and Tonks were off screen. But being hit with that as it was revealed to Harry let us better share what Harry must have felt.

Quidditch was more about how good of a broom rider Harry is. In my opinion. He was really good and it comes in handy several times.

Great show, been enjoying your journey through the Harry Potter series and look forward to seeing you guys watch fantastic beasts. One note though: reel rejects most likely has people from all walks of life who enjoy your content… (this is coming from a conservative who’s watched you for years)… I think it’s unnecessary to inject a political idea or value at the end of this podcast regarding the transgender actor comment “just to make one person mad”… my view is like Michael Jordan said, “republicans buy sneakers too”… so when we’re commenting on fictional worlds and enjoying them I think that’s a way that people on opposite sides of the political spectrum can come together and just enjoy a different world. I won’t stop watching you guys cause I love the content but if I may, comments like that could make viewers feel alienated and maybe stop watching. Just a thought. Love the content guys keep it up and Greg, I hope you’re doing better with whatever was impacting your wellbeing.
31:30 actually as a book reader I hate that scene compared to the book. The whole battle was mediocre compared to the book tbh.
In the book we have Harry and Voldermort fighting in front of everyone in the great hall. Voldermort even goes ape shit when he sees Bellatrix die but none of his spells seem to be actually harming anyone, and harry sees the fear/bewilderment on his fave. This was because Harry did the same sacrifice for his friends that his mother made for him. So essentially he was protecting them magically. Then when Voldermort dies his body remains, proving in the end he was just another human. No god or devil, just a man with nothing but hatred in his heart
Harry was even calling him Tom the whole time in front of everyone.
Also at this point in the story all the horcruxes are destroyed so there's no reason for Voldermort and Harry to become one while flying. If it was them disapperating then they would've been splinched as the prior movie even showed with Ron losing parts of his arm
But ignoring the books its a fun scene😅
We see Snape protecting Harry in the first movie by countering Quirrel's jinx on Harry's broom. More subtly, if you go back and watch the movies, in Azkaban, when Lupin turns into the werewolf, Snape pulls the kids behind him, protecting them. And when McGonagall is dueling with him, Snape never attacks but he does deflect her spells onto the two Death Eaters behind him and to the side of him (the Carrolls who have been torturing the kids) before he escapes.
I didn't mind so much the scene where Harry and Voldemort go often the tower together but I was bothered that their final battle shows only them in that scene. In the books, nearly everyone sees that battle and knows what Harry did. I always wondered why they made it just the two in that scene.
I'm glad to hear you liked Lupin. They cut so much of his character from the movies. First, diminishing his marriage to Tonks. He is conflicted, especially when she becomes pregnant because he questions if he can be a good husband and father.. In fact, he runs away by going to Grimmauld Place where the trio are hiding out in Deathly Hallows with plans to join them on the run. Harry scolds him for abandoning his son because he knows what it means to grow up without a father and Lupin returns to his wife. BTW: Teddy, Lupin's son, is Harry's godson. it doesn't bother me that this is not in the movie but I would have liked to see more of Lupin and Tonks.
Have you heard that his mother used a love spell to make Tom Riddle, Voldemort's muggle father, marry her. When she became pregnant, she thought Tom would love her without the spell and removed it but he went back to his muggle life and left her alone, broke, and pregnant. (She sold Salazar Slytherin's necklace, a family heirloom we first see in Half Blood Prince, support herself.) It is said that someone conceived under a love spell, has trouble loving others.

Im pretty sure the only reason Remus wasnt also a Godfather alonside Sirius is due to the wizarding laws around werewolves. If it wasnt for the prejudice Lupin faced, Harry couldve been raised in a loving home by family. Sirius and Lupin may not have been his blood, but they were his family. I feel like Harrys life is just a domino effect of tradgedies stacking.
Voldemort (Tom Marvolo Riddle) was conceived while his father was under the influence of a love potion but he truly hated Voldemort's mother. He left her as soon as she lifted the spell. It's theorized that a child conceived under a love potion will not be able to feel love.
There's also a deleted scene from Deathly Hallows P1 when aunt petunia and Harry actually have a slight heart to heart and she says that he didn't just lose a mother that night. She also lost a sister.
I love the Harry Potter series, both movies and books but I’ve only watched the first Fantastic Beasts movie 😂. I might actually have to check out the other two just so I can watch the reactions you two do

I really wish you guys did a video learning about the world. There’s so many things that head to the movies and more importantly Voldemort. His mother. How he became so evil and cold blooded
I think the deleted scene with Aunt Petunia is so much more impactful than Dudley’s scene. The Dudley scene also isn’t as moving for me because of what was cut from the scene where the dementors attacked them. It’s been a long, looong time since I read the books but I remember Dudley understanding that Harry saved him in that moment and they don’t show that in the movie.
I also don’t think the reveal that Mad Eye Moody was actually Barty Crouch Jr. was as impactful because the film didn’t do the best job at showing just how close Harry was to Moody.
Also, don’t want to spoil the movies for these two, but is anyone going to tell them that Snape was not a good guy? He was a bad guy that did a good thing and that actually makes him more of a hero in my opinion.
The dance scene is my favorite as well. For me i always looked at it as sadly, them saying goodbye to their childhood. It was a short reprieve from the impending doom. It was also Harry and Hermione being friends – wanting to keep that moment safe and sacred bec it was just the two of them.

There are a number of things about Voldi's background that are a cautionary tale. His Mom seduces his muggle father with a love potion and keeps him drugged until after they are married and Voldi is conceived. She then allows the poor man to come off of the love potion and he promptly leaves. I found out later in the lore that one of the things about being conceived with a love potion is that the child would not have a foundation of real love and basically be a sociopath or psychopath. I think this would be something that would be insightful in the movies. On a different question, I am such a Luna Lovegood and I was delighted to see her and felt seen lol. Another duo would be Neville and Luna and they are great supports to the trio and such a cute couple in the movie version.

32:34 movie death that absolutely hurt me had to be Dobby. But I remember in HBP- Dumbledores actual death was on a different page than the text leading up to it. I can’t believe how many times I read and reread it- just to make sure I didn’t miss something. Also you never really understand from the movies how absolutely crucial Hedwig is to Harry. She is his companion the entire time. She is his constant. Even when he lives with the Dursleys during the summer- he always has her around to remind him that magic exists and there is good in the world and if you have your bestie around you can handle a LOT of the extra shittiness of the world. And she died protecting him. And it wasn’t drawn out like Dumbledore or Dobby- it literally happens in a flash and she’s gone. I’m literally sobbing typing this out. Haha omg. I am excited that there will be a show that expands more into the world but I am dreading it because it’s absolutely going to pale in comparison to the movies I grew up watching.
The dementors played a big part in Dudley’s change in personality. Since they make you relive your worst, most traumatic memories, and Dudley is a spoilt brat with almost 0 traumatic memories, his worst memories are of him causing pain and suffering to others. Seeing his actions from this perspective (and realising the person he’s bullied for 14 years just saved his life) causes him to reflect on what a terrible kid he’s been. Also Dudley and Harry kept in touch after the books, their kids sometimes play together, which insinuates Dudley cut contact with his magic-hating parents, or at least distanced himself from them.

I’d love for you guys to read the books, purely for you to see the true depth of all the relationships. You said you loved the Lupin/Harry relationship but it was so much deeper in the books (especially the last one). Lupin gets scared when Tonks becomes pregnant (because he’s scared he won’t be a good father because he’s a werewolf), so he goes to Harry and asks him if he can come along on their hunt for horcruxes and live his glory days again. Harry is SO disappointed with him for abandoning Tonks and Harry really chews him out and sends him away in disgrace. His words kind of wake Lupin up and make him get over his fears. He returns to Tonks and becomes a wonderful father. Later on when they eventually meet again Harry feels awkward around him but Lupin thanks him for calling him out and they ask Harry to be the babies godfather. That’s why it feels like a full circle when they die. New parents to a little boy (like Lily and James), killed by Voldemort and a godfather who is a product of the war (like Sirius). The younger characters are the embodiment of the older characters but their flaws are corrected. Harry is actually SO much like Sirius, but he learned from their mistakes. He was able to see the wrong Sirius and his father did, and was able to know when not to take risks (unlike Sirius). Ron is like Wormtail (Peter Pettigrew), who was never as great or popular as his friends and was madly jealous about it, pushing him to betraying his friends. Ron had a lot of jealousy toward Harry (and even Hermione at times) but he overcame it and finally found his true place in the team once he embraced that he’d never be like them.
