自分で育てられるケト野菜 + 簡単なズッキーニのレシピ!
in this video we’re going to go over the easiest and most prolific vegetables to grow on your keto weight loss journey and we’re going to show you a really easy recipe with zucchini coming up sarah and i are relatively new to gardening but that hasn’t stopped us from enjoying fresh veggies all summer long even from our tiny city backyards gardening has so many health benefits not only are you ensuring what is actually in your vegetables but you can also grow unique varieties that you can’t even find at your local grocery store plus it’s a great way to get out there and get some exercise and if you know us uh gardening is probably the only way that we actually do get any exercise so once the weather starts getting nice sarah and i are usually the first people at the garden center and we usually go there between 10 and 20 times a growing season we recently went to the garden center for the first time to pick up our keto veggies so what we’re going to do is we’re going to go over our favorite varieties of vegetables and this is because they are prolific and they are easy to grow this means that any of you can grow them even if you have a balcony or a little tiny garden bed sarah has a couple raised beds in her backyard and she was able to produce so many vegetables it was amazing so there are a lot of you out there that might not have even a balcony or any outdoor space where you can plan things there are solutions for you such as growing stuff in a sunny windowsill inside and there’s some great indoor growing solutions um lighting setups they come with little plugs with seeds in them we will link a grow system in the description below if you guys want to check it out so the first thing that we always suggest that you grow yourself are herbs one organic bunch of dill costs about two dollars and fifty cents around here and we go through a lot of dill during the summer it’s just such a great ingredient to make sauces and marinades and all of that so i always suggest to grow a couple plants for yourself grow a couple plants so that you can have a bountiful harvest all summer long the only thing that i would say though if you are new to growing dill is that the eastern swallowtail butterfly loves dill if they find it they will eat it so that’s why i usually grow two plants and i’ll cover one with like a protective clothes i’ll let the caterpillars eat the dill and because i feel like bad taking all the dill for myself so i grow two plants usually rosemary is an amazing plant to grow i usually buy a pretty large pot of it from home depot it’s about 7.99 or something like that but it’s a huge plant and by the end of the year it usually turns into a bush about this big i’ll be cutting on it all summer and then around october i will chop it all the way to the ground and i’ll dry it and i’ll put it in the food processor and i’ll put it in a little glass jar i’ll have rosemary all throughout the winter so this basil plant is called amazil basil by proven winners it’s an amazing vigorous growing basil it’s powdery mildew resistant and this thing will turn into literally a tree by the end of the year they’re very fragrant leaves um they’re a little bit peppery i would say there are different types of basil that you can buy ones that are more sweet or purple or whatever a lot of those suffer from powdery mildew at which this plant does not i like to plant this one up and i will pick off a couple leaves and put them in salads marinades pizza so this plant will just produce all season long and then it will die relatively quickly after the frost takes it it’s definitely worth it i love this plant it says it will get uh 36 inches tall but it will probably get 36 inches wide as well so that’s three feet tall and three feet wide for just one plant of basil i also actually use this for cut flower arrangements too and it makes the house smell wonderful and then it will actually root in the base so if you’re looking for a filler for a cut flower arrangement and eating this is a great option too because it’s just an amazingly vigorous grower so next up on our list is a cilantro cilantro is a cold weather type of plant unfortunately so when um it gets warm out it’s not gonna survive you probably will have to like seed new plants and already have this all summer long it’s gonna suffer immediately when it starts getting hot outside really hot this one is kind of like i just like having it on hand because you know when we make tacos or i make cauliflower rice i like to just use a little bit of cilantro and i feel like when i buy it from the store it’s almost already on its way out yeah and so like i’ll take some cilantro leaves off of the stuff that i buy from the store and then the next day it’s like wilted and slimy and gross so having a fresh plant where i can just take what i need off of it is really helpful so there’s so many varieties of vegetables that you can grow there’s only a couple that we would like say that is a must when you’re on keto and the first one would be tomatoes you can choose a smaller variety of tomato like there are even tomatoes like the tumbling tom variety i think it’s called that will grow well in a basket or even a window box they’re very small tomatoes and they don’t grow like crazy you know if you have a garden bed um outside and you want to grow like the indeterminate variety which is a variety that like never stops growing like it will just keep on going forever i’m telling you there is nothing like a homegrown tomato tomatoes are actually one of like the longest things to actually mature mature and ripen i think it’s like 100 something days but there is a reason why people grow tomatoes and they’re obsessed with tomatoes it’s because the difference is night and day okay so next up on my list of things that you have to grow in your keto garden are cucumbers i absolutely love cucumbers they’re something that i really didn’t have a taste for until last year when i grew one and ate one myself so here i have the burpless supreme which is a like less thorny type of cucumber i like to grow these in a grow box because they are water hungry plants and if you don’t water them every day they are going to die so we have this system it’s called a grow box it’s a plastic container which you fill with soil at the top and at the bottom it has a reservoir where you fill it you don’t have to water them every day in the beginning you should because the roots are not going to be long enough in order to reach the reservoir so for the first week you should just stay on top of all of your newly planted plants just because they’re young and they don’t have the root system but after that point you only have to water them like once a week and make sure the reservoir is full and that’s it and i can expect a cucumber in 55 days so i’m excited i love having cucumbers just to like dip they’re just a delicious neutral snack actually you can make a cucumber taste like a watermelon by dipping it in sweetener and eating it um we actually tried that on this channel and we were surprised that it actually does taste like watermelon when you put sweetener on it so you could try that too so zucchini was actually my favorite thing that we grew the last couple years just because uh if you have one plant you can feed your family and you have two plants you can feed the city of chicago with that many plants and you will be uh throwing zucchini at people that walk by your house because you just have so many of the more you pick them the more the pieces and if you forget that you have zucchini you’ll get one about the size of a baseball bat after a couple days so you have to keep on top of it but they are relatively easy to grow and they are very prolific and you know on keto you can use zucchini for so many different things i’ve heard of people even making like boats like oh yeah scrape it out and then they put like a filling on the inside you can use zucchini if you slice it then you can make like lasagna with it with zucchini in the middle learning to garden can be intimidating just like learning anything new but it doesn’t have to be that’s why we’re happy to tell you about the sponsor of this video skillshare skillshare is an online learning community with thousands of inspiring classes for creators explore new skills deepen existing passions and get lost in creativity skillshare has thousands of classes that you can take part in whether it’s cooking to gardening art interior design knitting crafting and so much more one of the classes that sarah and i are currently taking is called gardening 101 a guide for growing and caring for plants taught by geraldine levin we absolutely love this class because it teaches you the fundamentals of growing herbs and plants and it’s in an easy to understand format so while emily and i do have some experience gardening we were always intimidated by the process of propagating plants but after this class we’re confident that we can turn one plan into many saving us money and allowing us to garden even more and remember that skillshare is curated specifically for learning the description will get a free trial of premium membership so you can explore your creativity thank you so much to skillshare for sponsoring this video and now we’re going to show you a recipe with zucchini so since zucchini are so prolific there are so many ways that you can use them um we actually bought these from the grocery store and we’re gonna show you one of our favorite recipes which are zucchini fritters and i feel like they’re the perfect side dish for like a grilling session or just a normal meal just having them on the side and we’re gonna make a really delicious dipping sauce to go along with it so in my bowl i have four large zucchini and we are going to shred them using a grater so be careful because when you get down to like the nub maybe just throw it out because there are plenty of times i have scraped my knuckles against the grater and it’s just not a good feeling let me tell you okay so our zucchini is nicely shredded in a bowl and we’re going to take a dish towel a clean one of course and we’re going to take the zucchini and we’re going to wring out all the extra moisture because zucchinis are almost 90 water and they’re not gonna become nice and crispy like we want in a fritter okay now we’re ready to add in our ingredients i’m gonna go in with one tablespoon of garlic powder salt and pepper to taste depending on how much you like a half a cup of almond flour and one cup of shredded mozzarella cheese if you don’t have shredded mozzarella you could also put in parmesan and we’re also going to combine everything and add in two lightly beaten eggs okay so our ingredients are nice and incorporated we’re just gonna go ahead and fry up our fritters in a little bit of avocado oil all right so while those zucchini fritters are getting nice and golden brown in the pan we’re gonna get started on our sauce it’s really simple i’m gonna go in with one cup of sour cream one tablespoon of garlic two tablespoons of lemon juice salt and pepper to taste and a whole bunch of dill i forgot we’re gonna be adding in a tablespoon of horseradish sauce it is spicy so if you don’t like this you can leave this one out okay so i’m getting ready to try these now i’ve actually never had these before um sarah’s never made them for me so i’m interested to try them they kind of look like hash browns which really excites me because i love hash browns so i’m gonna take a little bit of the sauce i love dill and half sauce half fritter you know what i mean i like it very good i would make these this fritter actually surprises me a bit because it does give me that hash brownie feeling so i hope that this video has inspired you guys to get out there and grow something keto friendly this summer why don’t you tell us what you’re growing in your gardens in the comments section we are always wanting to try new varieties and don’t forget to check out the sponsor of this video skillshare by clicking the link below because you get a free trial I take squash or zucchini trim the ends and deseed to make little boats. Fill with keto friendly spaghetti meat sauce. Bake at 3:50 for 30 to 40 minutes until soft. Add a sprinkle of cheese and Yum!
I'm getting ready to plant peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, spinach, and several types of herbs. Maybe zucchini, too. Thanks for the heads up about the basil!
I just started my garden two days ago after the last (hopefully) frost here in Quebec. I hope I'll have some veggies! Working on it was surprisingly soothing…I'm not an outdoors person at all, but this is something I can see myself doing, that is IF I can grow something hahahaha! I'll check out Skillshare, thank you!
Nice tip on the grow boxes, thanks… I mainly have perennial beds and don’t grow much in the way of veggies, though I do have a cherry tomato and basil plants in pots. I’m in Ottawa (Canada) and there was a run on basil plants at all the garden centres this year, wish I could find the one you like, will have to keep looking 😏!
I admire your green thumbs ladies. As an Italian who adores zucchini squash, and the blossoms, it has been a dream to be able to grow my own. As usual, thanks for the tips.
PHENOMENAL FINGER FOOD!
If you put the bunch of cilantro in a glass of water it will last longer … :0)
Can't wait to try the fritters!!!! Hugz from BC
I am growing…weeds. Hahaha. A greenthumb I do not have. But, knowing is half the battle.
Thank you for an awesome video, Sweethearts. ♥
Love zucchini! Thanks for the recipe! I grown four different tomatoes and I make my own sauces I store for long Maine winters. I grow leeks and lots of herbs.
You guys are the best! Thank you for your informative videos!
I live in a 3rd floor apartment in Europe and so don't have the best conditions for vegetables, but I do manage to grow lots of herbs (mint, parsley, basil, dill, coriander, sage, rosemary, curry herb and olive herb) and some veggies (lettuce does very well, snacking cucumbers, smaller varieties of tomato, spring onions) then I put strawberries everywhere there is a hole. They last from season to season and get stronger and stronger each year. I don't eat many, but my kids love them.
Growing basil and other herbs. Tomato’s and peppers are our favorite veggies. Great video girls. Will try the fritters soon.
LOVE all these plant ideas! I’m going to try all of them (except tomatoes 🍅.) I love them but they don’t like me. I feel awful when I eat them.
I love cucumbers. I like to make pickles!
I wish you had talked about pests in the plants and how to control them. I can’t stand caterpillars 🐛
That sauce looks amazing!
Your outfits are great, too. Are you still doing the thrift store shopping/resale?
I have years where I either get a ton of cucumbers or a ton of okra. Peppers do pretty well here too, bugs tend to leave them alone. We have tomato worms though, and they rear up on their legs and hiss. It's startling if you go to pick your cherry tomatoes and one spits green goop at you. We tried spraying the plants with a few drops of Dawn in a bottle of water, but they seemed to have built up a resistance.
I was actually inspired to start a keto garden from you two from an earlier video, I have a TON of herbs growing on my windowsill from seed and we also just put in two raised garden beds. Thank you for the inspiration!
I'm inspired
Wow I am so late this week. I think this is a great idea for a video to share with people. I live in an apartment and manage to kill just about everything so I'm not sure I'll be using these tips (but ya just never know about the future 🤣). I am sure, however, that I will refer people to this video when they ask for keto foods they can grow themselves. I do have to say I'll probably try the zucchini fritters even if I buy it from a store. Thanks for sharing such great content.
love your videos! a while back you asked for recipes to try (and critique) and I want to suggest low carb Russian syrnitki (as seen on the website by girl and the kitchen). thanks!
This recipe was fabulous! I ate four. I'm going to Aldi's tomorrow to buy more zucchini and dill. Thank you so much for sharing the recipe.
We are growing lettuce radishes, zucchini, onions, tomato and cucumbers. Might try some herbs
10/10 will watch again. Gardening AND keto woot!
Ever tried preparing a mock apple pie with your green tomatoes?
Great info girls! I might have to try some herbs. I always do cucumbers, tomatoes and zucchini. Keep the videos coming!
Hey guys, I have found the perfect keto bread replacement you guys should give a try or make a video on to show your reaction, and by perfect, I mean PERFECT! 🍞😊😍 it’s the closest you will probably get to eating bread and it doesn’t have bad ingredients that STILL contain wheat or a wheat-related ingredient that some low-carb keto breads that you buy from the store still have, AND IT DOES NOT HAVE A EGGY OR CHEESY TASTE TO IT AT ALL! AND they are EXTREMELY SOFT AND FLUFFY! BEHOLD: THE KETO WONDER BREAD CHAFFLE!
***FYI this is NOT my recipe, I discovered it somewhere on the web and I decided to give it a try, and it was AMAZING!
What You Will Need (this recipe makes 2 chaffles):
– 1 Dash Mini Waffle Maker 🙂
– 1 large egg
– 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise
– 3 tablespoons of almond flour
– 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder
– 1/2 teaspoon of water
– Non-stick cooking spray
How To Make:
– Plug in your mini Dash waffle maker, spray a little of the non-stick spray inside
– Mix ingredients well together in a small bowl (a cereal bowl will work)
– Pour half of the batter into the waffle maker and close lid. The same process you guys do with your chaffle recipe 🙂 (BTW fill them in the waffle maker as much as you are comfortable with, even when I made the 2 wonder bread chaffles with this recipe, I still had a little bit of batter leftover, so be careful not to over-fill the waffle maker too much to where it overflows because you are trying to use all the excess)
– Repeat the same process with the last half the batter
– ENJOY!
You can use this bread for meat and cheese sandwiches, toast, breakfast sandwiches, grilled cheese, etc! Make a couple batches of these and bring some in a zip-loc bag to a family get-together or BBQ so you can still enjoy some burgers and brats! You can even hold 1 chaffle in half with your hand and use it as a hotdog bun! ❤️

Great video! I tried planting basil and in less the 24 hrs an animal came during the night and the pot was empty. 😂
I love gardening, glad you guys made this video. 🥒🍅🍆
I ll watch adds for you girls! Love you both
This whole video makes me so happy! I love gardening so much! My garden is a jungle right now..so much food out there…it’s my exercise and really improves my mental health, not to mention the food!
Great video. I’ve been growing my own fruit & veg now for about 15 years in my large kitchen garden. I have only been keto for 2 years. I’m finding it difficult not to grow all the usual high carb stuff but am becoming more ruthless. Other easy keto veg to grow include kale, lettuces and spinach. By the way your rosemary plant should survive over winter outside; give it a go but don’t cut it back in autumn.
Loved this
Yellow squash is my fav to grow. They make the BEST 'noodles' too!
You can over winter the herbs in the house. Cut a few sprigs when the first frost is coming. It will root on a window sill in a jar of water. Pot it up and keep it alive until spring. It won't grow much, but it will give you a huge head start come spring.
Hey ladies and the Doctor Atkins diets he says that everyone has a different carb threshold. If you go over your carb intake threshold you start to gain weight and throw yourself out of ketosis. My question is on the keto diet do you have to worry about a carb threshold?
A great hashbrown hack is 1 cup of shredded cabbage and 1 egg, ( I add about 1/2 tbsp dried onion to mine) mix well and fry in avacado oil. It tastes so good, like waffle house hashbrowns. I am not sure where the recipe came from. My Mom shared it with me.
Saw these dwarf micro tomatoes on my gardening channel and thought of you and your limited gardening space. Tiny plants with lots of tomatoes. Channel is called Dig plant water repeat episode is called something like seeding micro dwarf tomatoes. I'm interested in seeing if u try them.
I've been looking into growing turnips because of a whole edible plant and relatively short growing time that allows for 2 plantings and 2 harvests. It makes a decent potato substitute and I love doing turnip chips in the oven.
What state do you live in? I live in Nevada and we have 2 seasons; winter and hell. I’ve tried growing inside with expensive plant lights and heater pads with no luck…any suggestions?
I wonder if you can put the zucchini mixture in the chaffle maker and cook them that way?
You should definitely try zucchini boats! I don’t even use a recipe: just dice the zucchini I scoop out, sauté it with other keto friendly veggies in a keto friendly oil, return it to the boats and top with whatever grated cheese I’ve got. Chopped turkey bacon is good in them too. Bake till cheese melts and browns a little. As for my garden, I grow cherry tomatoes, bush beans, zucchini, yellow squash, green onions, and herbs—all in pots on my deck.
I'm working on cucumber and tomato plants. 😊. Trying to make it to where I can bring it in when it gets cold. I need to try zucchini next.
Zucchini in the middle.. My apologies for asking if you ladies were single 🥒
I snorted with your zuke comment. It's so true. We plan on growing 2-3 vines so we can share with church and the food pantry. Fresh ones are so amazing grilled.
